Daily Program
My daily program includes active, quiet, indoor and outdoor play, and offers opportunities for growth in your child's development. I support healthy play and use play as the means to teach and foster development. I absolutely love playing with kids, teaching them about colours, shapes, numbers, letters, counting, identifying objects, sharing, etc.
I can help your child with the following skills needed to be ready for the classroom:
Recognize their name - Your child's name will be displayed throughout the home and we will also create crafts using their name. I can even help them write it.
Using finger play - Practice holding a pencil/crayon/marker, bead-stringing, picking up Cheerios with tweezers and playing with blocks
Encourage the use of scissors - We will do plenty of crafts/activities that use blunt-edged scissors to cut paper
Key life skills - Your child will be taught manners "Please" and "Thank you", how to share with others, toileting skills, how to wash their hands, sneeze into their sleeve (not hands) and how to blow their nose with a tissue...to name a few.
Counting - I like to count when I do everyday things with the kids like how many scoops of powdered formula, setting the table with utensils and cutlery or by counting the toys as we put them away.
Here are the four key areas of development that I base our daily activities on:
Creative Development
Art Centre - Art allows kids to explore colours and shapes and use their imagination
Examples: colouring, painting, crafts, all to be displayed in the playroom Art Gallery
Emotional Development
Circle Time - Part of our morning routine that gets all the kids learning together
Examples: songs, music, dance, stories, rhymes, felt board stories, discuss today’s weather
Social Development
Creative Play - Getting all the kids working together to do some fun activities
Examples: water and sand table play, baking, cooking, indoor playhouse
Physical Development
Active Play - Helps children develop healthy fitness habits, social skills, and their imagination
Examples: walks to the park, enjoy slides/swings at the park, nature walks, scavenger hunts
