My name is Sarah and I am a 30 year old, mature, loving mother of one. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart since 2005 and we were blessed with our first son, Miguel, in 2009. I have wanted to be a "stay at home mom" for as long as I can remember and I have always dreamed about owing/operating my own daycare. My mother stayed at home when I was young and also cared for some other children too, maybe that's where I got the idea from.
I am certified in First Aid and CPR for children, and have an up-to-date police clearance and a Catholic Children's Aid Society Clearance. My home is smoke free, pet friendly, safe, clean and I operate my daycare on the main floor and second floor of my home. My home has also been inspected by the Hamilton Fire Department.
I’m a big believer in "prevention" in our home. My husband calls me "Miss Safety". Accidents can always be prevented with the proper safety equipment which has been installed in our home.
I have always been a creative person since I was young. I spend my free time being "crafty" by creating homemade things, baking, and decorating cakes. I like to celebrate all holidays and welcome your family’s yearly traditions. By using my creative mind, we will have fun themes, make crafts, play games and bake goodies to tie into the themes throughout the year.
I also like to spend time researching various topics of interest such as child development, craft ideas, being “green”, and travelling…just to name a few.
Cutie Pie Daycare was created out of my love for children and the desire to raise my children at home. It's very rewarding to watch young children develop and learn.
Cutie Pie Daycare’s Philosophy
I believe that children should be nurtured and guided through these very important early years and should taught all the key skills needed to help them be successful in the years that lie ahead. There are too many childcare providers out there that use "T.V" as a babysitter for your kids. Parents need to have someone they can trust and be able to provide good, quality care for their kids.
I am a HUGE believer in positive reinforcement. I will always praise good behaviour when a child does something I like. I also praise small improvements because everyone learns by trial and error. Praising steps in the right direction gives more encouragement to keep trying.
I also support healthy play and use play as the means to teach and foster development. I provide many opportunities for a child to practice their developing skills while providing supervision so they stay safe while they learn. I also encourage them to explore, ask questions, use his/her imagination, and practice fine motor skills, such as stacking blocks or colouring.
I hope to create a warm home away from home for your cutie pies, by giving them the care they need to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally.
This is the type of care I want for my children and for yours as well.
